Admitted to the Florida Bar in January 1991, S. Alan Johnson, Esq. ("SAJ") established and operated an independent legal practice in central Florida. After receiving his MBA degree in 1993 and his Master of Science degree in Health Services Administration in 1998 (both from the University of Central Florida), SAJ increasingly focused on transactional representation of Florida healthcare providers and entities through January 2001. From 1996 through 2000 SAJ taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Central Florida in various subjects within the College of Health Professions and Sciences, including but not limited to Health Law (see Pedagogy for details).
In May 2001, while completing the graduate coursework curriculum requirements for a Ph.D. in Public Health at the University of South Florida, SAJ accepted the full-time position of Program Director of Evaluation for the Florida Health Literacy Study, funded by pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. and conducted at the University of South Florida in the College of Public Health, Department of Community and Family Health. In June 2003, subsequent to successfully completing his qualifying examinations and thereby achieving ABD ("All But Dissertation") status from the University of South Florida College of Public Health Ph.D. program, SAJ accepted the full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor at Idaho State University, Kasiska College of Health Professions, Department of Healthcare Administration in Pocatello, Idaho.

In May 2006, SAJ resigned his Assistant Professor position at Idaho State University and returned to Florida for the purpose of attempting to work more closely with his Ph.D. committee at the University of South Florida to complete his Ph.D. dissertation. In June of 2006, SAJ relocated his law practice to the Hollywood, Florida area, focusing on trial and appellate real estate litigation. In 2011, SAJ opened a second law office in Fort Myers, Florida. From 2006 to the present, SAJ has represented clients in over 470 civil litigation cases in Florida circuit courts located throughout south and central Florida, involving thousands of appearances at hearings and innumerable appearances at trials as lead trial counsel litigating real property matters with an aggregate amount at issue of well over $100 million.
